Overview

Built by Gustave Eiffel as the centerpiece of the 1889 World's Fair, the 330-metre wrought-iron tower was once the tallest structure on Earth and has become the defining silhouette of Paris. Three visitor levels are connected by lifts and stairs, each offering a different way to experience the monument — from the glass-floor first level to the summit's champagne bar. Book a timed-entry ticket well in advance (especially May–September), aim for the first slot of the morning or the hour before sunset, and combine your visit with a stroll across Champ de Mars or the Trocadéro gardens on the opposite bank for the classic postcard view.
